Clark-based Japanese firm helps ‘Yolanda’ survivors in Visayas

CLARK FREEPORT-Clark Freeport-based Japanese firm SMK Electronics Philippines Corporation sent three truckloads of relief supplies to areas in the Visayas, which were stricken by Super Typhoon Yolanda last month.

“The supplies, which weighed at least 9.8 tons, consisted of 4,000 food packs and non-food items including medicines and candles,” Clark Development Corporation (CDC) General Affairs and Human Resources Manager Herrie Raymond Rivera said.

“SMK is grateful for the assistance of Philippine Air Force and the United States Navy, which provided for the transportation of the much-needed supplies to the families in the Visayas,” Rivera added.

Earlier, CDC through its Vice President for Operations Franco Alejo Madlangbayan turned-over 12 checks amounting P1,249,650 to the Department of Social Welfare and Development as part of its “Bangon Bayan” initiative.
